Geothermal energy provides a more comfortable, healthier, and more cost-effective option for home heating and cooling. Geothermal heat pumps pull heat from the ground during the cold months to heat your home and push cool air and/or hot water into your home during the summer months, cooling your home more effectively than a conventional air conditioner. The basic idea for geothermal heating and cooling stems from the fact that the earth’s temperature remains fairly consistent, and it is steadily releasing that heat. Geothermal heat pumps are among the most efficient and comfortable heating and cooling methods available today because they use the earth’s natural heat to provide climate control, and are also useful for heating and cooling water.

A geothermal unit may or may not be the best system for your home. It is important to have an expert properly evaluate your home and recommend the appropriate heating and cooling options. The basic concept behind geothermal is that it's a system that pumps water mixed with a small amount of antifreeze through plastic pipes that are either buried in the ground or placed inside the house walls or attic. Sometimes, the pipes are placed conveniently under your own backyard or driveway. This water maintains a steady temperature of approximately 50 degrees, which is then carried throughout the home by a system of air ducts. This keeps hot and cold air from mixing, thereby maintaining a more consistent temperature.

There are several scenarios to consider when thinking about installing a new Geothermal Heat Pump System.
-
New Construction or Retrofit: Starting new is always an option when building a new house. Retro fit or replacement systems are just as common. Do you have a question about your application? Call Us?
-
Distribution Type: Most Geothermal systems use ductwork. Some systems we install can be distributed with hydronic baseboard, radiant or hydronic air handlers.
-
Loop Type:There are 2 different types of geothermal loop systems horizontal or vertical. Depending on your property and you needs we have the experience to help you make the correct decisions on what configuration works for you. Close loop systems can be installed vertically 200-400' deep or horizontally installed 4 to 6' feet deep depending on the application.
